DESCRIPTION:This mini tour will start at the monthly Pistons on the Square car gathering. From Georgetown the plan is to travel north to the Salado\, Temple\, Belton. Piston on the Square gathers at 8 am for the early risers. SUMMARY:Spurfest Mini-Tour and Festival - Gatesville\, Texas
DESCRIPTION:Weather was great for this event. We secured a great parking spot in the shade and saw a wide variety of about 240 cars. Here are some random pictures: \n\n\n\n	\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nWhat is Spurfest\, you might ask? It is the annual event in Gatesville\, Texas\, centered around the Coryell County Museum and Historical Center that houses the extensive Lloyd and Madge Michell Spur Collection\, among many other exhibits. The festival has been going on for twenty-two years. In recent years\, it also features the Cruzin Cruzers car show on the courthouse square and an old-time fiddlers contest in the City Auditorium – both only a block away from the museum.  \nWendel shared a nice article about the event in 2023 in our November 2023 Fender Talk newsletter. \nPotential Attractions: \n\nDrive-In Movie (Friday night)\nCar Show\nCoryell County Museum and Historical Center that houses the extensive Lloyd and Madge Michell Spur Collection\nMusic Festival and Shoot-Out\nWendell shares his hometown with the club\n\nDetails:\nThe Cruzin Cruzers Car Show begins at 8:00 on Saturday\, 9/21\, so Road Relics members will likely want to go up Friday night\, 9/20.  I recommend the Comfort Inn.  In addition to the parking spaces immediately around the hotel\, It has open parking in a lot it shares with the restaurant next door\, which is as good a place to eat as any.  It is one mile from The Drive-In Picture Show\, if anyone is interested in an old-fashioned movie experience.  (It’s not really the last\, but that’s their name.). A second choice is the Holiday Inn Express\, which is a 3-minute walk from the Drive-In.  Parking is not as good and there is no adjacent restaurant\, although it has free hot breakfast.  Both have rooms available now\, but probably will be running low in a few weeks. \nCar show registration is $25 in advance or $30 day of.  Below are web sites for the car show\, hotels\, and Spurfest events going on at the same time as the car show.   \nThe Coryell County Museum \nCrusin Cruzers Club \nComfort Inn Hotel Information \nHoliday Inn Hotel Information \n

SUMMARY:Ice Cream Social
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Road Relics for cold refreshments at the annual Ice Cream Social \nGeorge is hosting this event which has always been a hit. Come join the fun. \nThe event was a hit. Here is a recap from DJ \nThe Texas sun was up to it’s usual June gig but we’ve learned homemade ice cream is a great way toa beat the heat. Inside the museum at George Bruner’s place\, cooool reigned as we gathered for our annual ice cream social with the Model T club. With several flavors of fresh homemade ice cream & a table full of treats it was easy to forget your diet. Due to the number attending I’m not going to mention any names……….except ONE……..I always enjoy seeing Joyce Sheirlow. The museum looked incredible & there is so much on display you can always discover something new! There was a nice lineup of members cars & George & Todd had the Model T depot hack out & it looked GREAT!!. It was a nice relaxing attitude where we had plenty of conversations getting caught up on our projects & life happenings. Many thanks to George & his family & we look forward to next year.
